Random

Using a fork for the first time. I loaded it up and gave it to her and she popped it in like a pro then handed it back to me.
A cute shot of her pulling up on the couch where I was trying to catch my breath for a few seconds.

She warmed right up to Aunt Deborah during her visit.

Kayleigh in Action

Helping with the recycling.
Triker chick.
Wow, I have a long name...
Mmmmm, corn on the cob...
4th of July party (isn't my outfit patriotic?).
Really enjoying Gabriel's whale :-)
Daddy lets me play in the dirt! Hey, Dad where did you want this soaker hose?
Yummy watermelon and the 50's band "Sparkletones" in downtown Campbell. What a great night! I wish I knew what "the 50's" was!
Hands-free watermelon munching.
I needed two pieces of watermelon ;-) Boy, it's a good thing Mommy packed the big bib :-)

Happy (Almost) Birthday!

Today was Kayleigh's first Birthday party! Her birthday isn't actually until the 1st of July, but since that was a Wednesday, we figured today was as good a time as any to celebrate.

Kayleigh and Michael playing in the living room.

Gabriel looking on.

The hippo makes his appearance at the jungle themed party. Thanks to The Grit for the carrot cake recipe. I think I'll lay off cake sculpting for a while after this attempt :-)

Preparing for her first taste of cake.

Mommy, Daddy and the Birthday Girl (concentrating on her cupcake). I think she enjoyed the gooey frosting most.

Mmmmm, Yummy!

Swimming and Snacks

This week was Kayleigh's first official week of swimming lessons. We took the Campbell Rec department parent and me course and Kayleigh loves the water. She wasn't too fond of going with the instructor, but that was nothing personal.

This is her "report card" from the course.
I've learned that I cannot store things (especially snacks) under the stroller anymore. Mike turned his back for a few seconds today and she managed to get into her cracker supply. Doesn't she look so pleased with herself? :-)

Life's a Beach

While Oma and Auntie Deborah were stopping in, we decided to have a day at the "Beach". It was a little strip of sand on the shore of Almaden lake not far from home, but Kayleigh had a great time playing in the sand.

She also really loved the water. Although I thought it might be too cold for her, she kept going back to wade with Daddy.

More digging in the sand.

A nice random shot of her mugging for the camera.
Sooo, what'll happen if I drop this...?

Kayleigh is a big fan of our orange tree. She'll nibble on the skin, make faces and then continue to nibble until one of us takes the orange away. We've also started clapping. She's very good at it and does it at just about every opportunity. And who really needs a reason to clap?
Our little monkey is also quite the climber. For those grandparents out there, don't worry, there was a dedicated spotter just outside the frame making sure she didn't fall.

We've discovered that boxes are endless sources of fun. This one is a tunnel and Kayleigh loves to crawl back and forth.
We've also been getting more and more sounds out of her when she's in a chatty mood. One of our favorites is "uh-oh!" I'm wondering if she feels a particular need to practice this and is planning to be using it often as a toddler ;-)
